πŸŽ™οΈ More Than Downloads

June 15, 2026β€’4 min read

πŸ‘‹Hey there Podcaster!

This week we talked about turning listeners into clients, creating stronger interviews, the role of AI in content creation, and what nearly two decades in podcasting can teach us. Different topics. Different guests. Different perspectives.

What struck me is how often podcasting rewards the things that are hardest to track on a dashboard. The listener who reaches out after months of quietly following your work. The guest who shares a story they've never told before because they trust you. The opportunity that comes from consistently showing up long before there's any obvious payoff. The relationships you build along the way.

Those things rarely show up in your download numbers, but they often end up having the biggest impact on your podcast and your business.

πŸ’°Your Podcast Might Already Be Creating Opportunities

A lot of creators spend time wondering how to monetize their podcast while already answering questions, sharing expertise, solving problems, and helping people every single week.

At some point, those casual conversations start becoming something more valuable.

Maybe it's a listener who reaches out for advice. Maybe it's an invitation to speak. Maybe it's a request for coaching, consulting, or guidance in your area of expertise. The challenge isn't

always creating value. Sometimes it's recognizing the value you've already created.

Remember, your podcast isn't just content. it's evidence. Every episode gives people another chance to hear how you think, how you solve problems, and whether you're someone they want to work with.

If someone discovered your podcast today, what opportunities would they know you're available for?

πŸŽ™οΈThe Best Interviews Don't Happen By Accident

This past week on the Podcasting Morning Show Dave Jackson didn't offer a complicated formula for better interviews. His advice was much simpler: do the work before the microphone is on.

Great interviews often begin long before anyone hits the record button. They start with research. Listening. Curiosity. Paying attention to the stories other interviewers missed.

One point that really resonated with me was the importance of follow-up questions. Some hosts are so focused on getting through their list that they miss the most interesting thing the guest just said. The best conversations aren't created by having better questions on a document.

They're created by listening closely enough to recognize when the conversation wants to go somewhere unexpected. Listeners can tell the difference.

When was the last time you changed direction in an interview because the conversation became more interesting than your outline?

πŸ€– The More Content We Create, The More Perspective Matters

AI came up several times this week, and the discussion was more nuanced than the usual "AI is good" or "AI is bad" debate.

The real question wasn't whether creators should use AI. It was what happens when everyone has access to the same tools.

Creating content has never been easier. Writing, editing, brainstorming, repurposing, and research can all happen faster than ever before. But speed doesn't automatically create connection.

Several community members talked about realizing that more content wasn't necessarily producing better results. In some cases, it was just producing more content. The creators people remember are usually the ones willing to share their experiences, opinions, lessons learned, mistakes, and observations.

That's the part technology can't duplicate. Your audience doesn't need another generic answer. They want YOUR answer.

What part of your perspective shows up consistently in your content?
